I chose to practice at Via Christi Clinic because it’s a democratic organization that has practiced excellent medical care for over 60 years.

I moved to Wichita for my last two years of medical school, but I didn’t intend to stay. During my time as a resident I met many doctors at Via Christi Clinic and I was impressed with the quality of the physicians. I found that Wichita has a lot of opportunities, and I’m glad to be here.

I chose to practice at Via Christi Clinic because I needed a structured environment where I could focus on my craft and interact with others in a cordial way. WC provides that and great colleagues as well. That is something we ought not take for granted.

When I was ready to start my practice I interviewed elsewhere and realized what a great opportunity I had here in Wichita at Via Christi Clinic, where I felt most at home. I also give credit to Drs. Shellito and Brinton.

I thought Via Christi Clinic would be a great place to practice. There are so many services offered at a variety of locations. Everyone is interested in making continuous improvements and utilizing cutting-edge technology. I see a need for Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation services so it’s exciting to be able to offer something new to Clinic patients.

Wichita was the BIG city when I was growing up. It seems much smaller now. We love it and we think it’s a great place to settle down with a family.

Via Christi Clinic gave me the opportunity to develop an Endocrinology department, an ADA-certified diabetes class, and to extend our offerings to include diabetes educators. I enjoy working with a friendly group of excellent physicians, and having the flexibility to advance and adapt what we have to offer to meet the needs of the patients we see.

I’ve lived in Wichita since 1994, and I enjoy it a lot. I find it amazing that a city this size can have the amenities it does, such as fine dining, music and good schools, with such friendly people and a very reasonable cost of living.

I love the coordination between all of our physician partners for patient care. The ease and accessibility of getting the patients records makes my ability to provide anesthesia so much better.

I grew up in Goddard just outside of Wichita, and I always vowed to leave for bigger and better things after my training was over. I quickly found out that there are bigger places than Wichita, but not much better than Wichita for raising a family or practicing medicine. We have many of the bigger city amenities, but Wichita has maintained a small town feel. It is a much different city than it was even 25 years ago.

I like working at Via Christi Clinic because it is a well-established multi-specialty practice with a long history, and it has a good support system in place for the physicians.

The Clinic has a strong and enduring reputation for integrity and excellence. I work at Via Christi Clinic Newton, and I get the best of both worlds living in Newton. I get all the small town benefits (no heavy traffic, Via Christi Clinic Newton and the Newton hospital are attached, and nothing is more than 10 minutes away), but anything I want from a larger city like Wichita is just 30 minutes away.

Our careful recruitment of new sub-specialists allows us, as a group, to deliver more comprehensive care for our patients. I appreciate the teamwork that results in my patient referrals being addressed promptly. I’m proud to be a part of this group and I’ve entrusted my health and that of my family to our providers.

I was impressed by the team-centered approach to patient care at Via Christi Clinic, as well as the fact that the physicians seemed to genuinely enjoy working at Via Christi Clinic.

The Wichita community is quite welcoming to newcomers. We have greatly appreciated the many helping hands that have been extended to us since our move. Wichita is a hidden jewel and we are excited that we found it.

I found Wichita to be an ideal place to raise my family and establish my medical practice. I wanted to be part of a multi-specialty group where I could devote 100% of my practice to spine surgery, and I found it at Via Christi Clinic. Wichita is a family-friendly, medium-sized city that has a lot of big-city amenities without the traffic and high crime rate you may find in a major city.

When I joined Via Christi Clinic in 1999, I only wanted to commit to a two-year contract. My wife was going to get her psychology license and then we were going to be out of here. Three children and two houses later, we’re still here. I love the town (Newton), the practice and the people I’m working with.

I joined Via Christi Clinic in February 2008. I have really enjoyed working at the Carriage Park office. Everyone there made me feel welcome the minute I walked through the door and they have continued to do so. I feel like I have a lot of support, not only from my partners and nurses, but also from the administrative and marketing staff, as well as physicians from other specialties. The benefits for my family are great. Wichita is my home, and I feel fortunate to be given the opportunity to practice alongside the dedicated group of physicians at Via Christi Clinic.

After attending the annual Founders’ Award dinner with my colleagues, I felt very proud to be a part of Via Christi Clinic. We have amazing doctors, skilled administrators, and dedicated people in our organization. I was amazed at how many of our physicians received special recognition during the program for being a part of this organization for 20 or more years. That says something about our unity and team spirit. It really is an honor and privilege to serve.

The most pleasant surprise for my family has been the incredible variety of things there are to do in Wichita. We didn’t realize how family oriented Wichita was before we arrived here. I’m also very pleased with the short commute time and the fact that the crime rate is lower here than in some of the larger cities where we’ve lived. I’m fortunate enough to be located in the new medical office building adjacent to the surgery center. The new facilities are beautiful, modern and very convenient.

Collaboration, multispecialty support, cutting edge technology, and sharing electronic medical records were important to me when I decided where to practice. I enjoy the collegiality with other departments and the fact that I can just pick up the phone and other physicians are available for me. They are very helpful when we’re discussing my patients and I’m impressed with that. I also wanted to practice medicine and not deal with the administrative side. Location, partners, opportunity, and the ability to have family time were the overriding reasons I chose to practice at Via Christi Clinic.

Via Christi Clinic’s recruitment committee was excellent – very sincere and genuine. I didn’t ever feel like I was being sold something that wouldn’t be backed up. The business professionals who support you—marketing, coding, billing—are all helpful and important to me.

The group has a history of financial stability and strong growth. Individual physicians at Via Christi Clinic enjoy the reputation of having sound clinical skills and excellence in teaching among the medical students, residents, and academic community.

Having trained at the Ohio State University and University of Michigan, and having worked in the Washington D.C. area, I am comfortable stating that this is the best area and group I have found to practice medicine at. The facilities and support are top-notch.

I left a very successful orthopaedic practice in Madison, Wisconsin (one of America’s most desirable cities in which to live) to join Via Christi Clinic over 20 years ago. My wife and I have never regretted the move and have been very content living and working in Wichita. There are many opportunities to be involved in cultural affairs such as the Wichita Symphony, Chamber Music at the Barn, The Wichita Art Museum and many others. We have enjoyed being members of the Wichita Chapter of the American Institute of Wine and Food and are enjoying a renaissance of fine dining opportunities that have opened up in Wichita the past few years. Although we love visiting New York, Chicago, Washington, and San Francisco, we plan to remain here in Wichita if and when I ever retire from my position at Via Christi Clinic.

Throughout my practice experience, I have had the good fortune to work with expert and dedicated doctors who were devoted to excellence and integrity. Since I joined Via Christi Clinic, I have had the opportunity to work with the best doctors in Wichita and Newton with the assistance of a highly effective staff and great administrative support. I am deeply appreciative.

Via Christi Clinic has been a great organization in which to grow and thrive as a physician. My father, who was a surgeon and a member of Via Christi Clinic for 35 years, encouraged me to join the group after I finished my vascular surgery fellowship in 1985. When I asked him why, he said, “Because the physicians run the group, and they have always treated me fairly.” He was exactly right on both counts. I am proud to be a member of Via Christi Clinic.

Via Christi Clinic is open to new ideas and encourages an entrepreneurial spirit in its physicians. In 2006, the vascular surgeons proposed opening a new vein center. The Executive Management Group has been very supportive in providing the necessary equipment and administrative staff. The billing and coding departments as well as marketing department have been superb in supporting us all the way from concept to implementation. The vein center will be a success due to our efforts as physicians in a small part, and due to the organization’s support in a large part.

At Via Christi Clinic, we are concerned about patient care as well as the regulatory environment that affects it. As a result, we are actively involved at the local, state and national levels of government to monitor and advocate for the best possible health care system in which to practice. Our political affairs committee takes this conviction and turns it into effective, grass roots political advocacy. I’ve enjoyed being part of that effort for a number of years by representing Via Christi Clinic on the Legislative Committee for the Medical Society of Sedgwick County.

I’ve practiced dermatology at Via Christi Clinic since 1973 and I am very proud to be a part of this group. I have a busy practice but also a great deal of balance in my life. I enjoy all kinds of outdoor activities with family and friends including water skiing and snow skiing. I’m also involved in medical missionary work in Haiti. Through these volunteer efforts I’ve really come to appreciate the compassionate care that my colleagues have shown when treating those who are less fortunate. Why would I practice anywhere else?
